Balancing Acts Of Empathy
In the dance of life, I play the part, A people pleaser, with a giving heart. I bend and sway to others' desires, Fulfilling their wishes, stoking their fires. But in the quest to make them smile, I often lose myself for a little while. I wear a mask, a chameleon's guise, Hiding my truth behind a sea of lies. I fear rejection, crave their praise, Yet my own needs get lost in the maze. A people pleaser's burden is heavy to bear, As I sacrifice myself, it's only fair? But in the depths of this constant chase, I find a glimmer of my truest grace. For in serving others, I also grow, Learning to balance, to say both yes and no. So here's to the journey, the highs and lows, A people pleaser's path, where empathy flows. May I find harmony, may I find release, In being myself, and finding my peace.
