Baby's name
A newborn baby, Smiles and laughter become our joy, Dancing in our village square, Even with stomachs empty of a square meal. The baby must receive its name. But the darkened moon threatens to rain night down; Everyone must hurry back before dark night Falls On travelers who have overspent the day for a sleepless night. In this village square, Time is never well spent, And a baby's name must reflect its time. But the celebration of a new birth Should bring a new moon to this sky. Perhaps a new season will open the way, Pouring new rain into our forest of harvest; Mushrooms might even start to sprout from spring trees. But for now, As the day turns to night with its heavy lids, We must hurry home Before they close, And we find ourselves groping in the dark, Searching for a new name For the newborn baby..
