autumn
Autumn is the sunset hour. A long day its been, of fun and laughter and life Vivid greens and blues have tired the eyes Earth feels her age as she stretches and yawns. The colours now crispen and deepen, as ageing wine or rolls of plush velvet. Misting rain brings to life the doe's home We are encouraged to slow down and Breathe and Look. Though flame is fleeting, still it burns Water has no feeling, still it learns To trace and carve the paths of life For trees whom stand still in their strife And as the leaves catch that sun that sets in the west, they light up like fire and molten gold, brimstone and stardust and myths of old A suspended shower of stars mid-fall And when we see them all and grieve the colours autumn told remember The glory they give in their last gift for this world
