Authenticity:Vulnerability?
Sometimes we say we want to be real. But what we actually mean is: “I want to be accepted without having to open up too much.” We want to be known but only for the good parts. We share the highlights, the strong opinions, the things we’ve already healed from. But what about the stuff we’re still figuring out? What about the fear, the confusion, the messy middle we would rather skip? Can we call that authenticity if we’re still hiding? Realness isn’t loud. It’s honest. It says, “This is where I am, even if it’s not where I want to be.” Being vulnerable doesn’t mean spilling everything. It means being brave enough to stop pretending. If Jesus could be real in His pain, why do we think that we have to always be fine?
