part one It was 7:48 and I was curled up behind the classroom cabinets the lights are off the halls silent not an alarm to be heard trying not to make a sound We laughed and joked so many times before what is it all for This would never happen We thought it was dramatic thought the danger lived in Hollywood Through the screen out of reach At 8:06 we heard a sound Loud Quick Then silence like an echo that carried dread No one said a word no one moved The handle on the door yanked roughly everyone held their breath as if the door held our fate If we make it home to dinner If we see are friends laugh If we ask the pastor about sex just to see him fluster 9:03 the principal's voice came one over head I didn't pay attention My heart racing in my chest my mind a fog I didn't know what to think 9:32 we were escorted from the classroom down hallway They Hid what they could But you can't hide the truth Miss Jenkins classroom door broken in lights were off but silhouettes remained Kindergarteners not one survived Mr Johnson's room came into view Paramedics tried to help I'd never seen him cry Not before his daughter Mary died her body didn't move her chest didn't rise her eyes stuck open terror staring back
