Family is a gift to be cherished and nurtured Family is where I learned about life It was my safe place when all I received was aggression Or so I thought, now I feel unsafe on the lookout When did it change, when did we become strangers When did we become enemies Why can't I be vulnerable in my family, to expose my weaknesses Rather I wear my finest armour, like a warrior always ready Take me back to when we were little To when we played innocently in mud, building sand castles I reminisce about the good old days, but now solitude my fortitude
