ashes
I'm scared of something... I can't pinpoint it But when I think about how broad The possibilities are of me failing I no longer crave to live I've had this fear for years So that must be why I struggle To find something to yearn for I'm drawn to what I know I won't attain Because I find comfort in knowing how That story ends The anticipation, the unknown... It no longer excites me It still burns inside of me like a fire But I've been burning for so long That I've shriveled into a pile of weak ashes Knowing that one wrong move could ruin me And even knowing that I might've already taken that move It's terrifying I want to hide And never show my face again
