Are We So Different?
Who wrote the rules that say to be bold, You must be a boy, strong and cold? Who whispered that to shed a tear, Makes you weak, a thing to fear? Who said that girls must sit so tight, Hands in laps, faces bright? That running wild is not their place, That mischief is just a boy’s embrace? If a boy cries, does the world break? If a girl climbs, is it a mistake? If roles switch and walls collapse, Does the sky shatter? Do stars relapse? No! A heart is not colored blue or pink, Strength and softness, more than we think. A girl can rise, a boy can fall, And still, they're human, after all. So tear the labels, rip them wide, Let truth, not myths, be our guide. For who we are is ours to own, Not a story by the past alone.
