Are We Ever Gonna Own It
A cry for Africa With pride, they lie between their teeths, They say we are free, yet i wonder, Is there freedom for those that sleep with hunger? Our constitution is nothng but a pitch of football where Europeans are the coaches, Resources are still in the hands of our colonisers, We were sold out through agreements Signed before the so called independence. Are we ever gonna own it? Their mansions are standin'on foundations of bribes, Their wealth is a child born of nepotism and ill gotten tenders, Taken for a fool by those we voted in power, Mushrooming our country with prisons, Meanwhile ,our resources they plunder. Are we ever gonna own't? Our communities're stil livin'in the colonial error, Stuck behind lines drawn by our divider, Their minds`re stil dictated by tribes and colour, I ain't speakin'as racist ,but As an african concerned about the future. Our leaders are buryin'our country in a mass dungeon called forein aid, Our education system is pyramid of theories, A house of cards where players are taught how to expertise In becoming smart slaves called employees, Are we ever gonna own`t.
