Anxious Heartbeats
My mind is a maze, a whirlwind of worries A never-ending cycle, of fears and uncertainties I'm lost in the haze, of what-ifs and maybes Drowning in the depths, of anxiety's dark seas I worry about tomorrow, and the next day's strife About things I can control, and those that are beyond my life My heart beats with anxiety, my soul trembles with fear As I try to grasp the reins, of a life that's hard to clear But then I remember, the words that set me free "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation..." A saving grace, a lifeline, a calming melody That soothes my soul, and quiets my anxiety I take a deep breath, and let the words sink in As I lay my worries, at the feet of the One who can I trust in His goodness, in His love and His care And slowly, my anxious heartbeats, begin to fade into prayer So I'll choose to let go, to release the weight I bear To trust in the promise, that He's always there And when anxiety knocks, I'll answer with a calm heart For I know that I'm not alone, and that He'll never depart.
