Anger
I've got this anger, The sort I swore I'd never carry, A resentment that eats me inside, Despite what it seems, I do know forgiveness is the answer, But why is it so hard, I cant forgive so easily, Not anymore, How can't anyone see, You've torn our lives apart, I loved them all, Both fierce and tame, But now I tremble at their scent, Their presence sends me back, To the moment when it changed, When our lives seemed to stall, You took not only a precious pet, Not only her remaining years, No you took far more than can be seen, My ability to love- -those similar to yours, That day you lost control, Will never be over...not yet, I still hear my screams, Still see her panicked face, I can remember the stench, It wasn't hers when I held her last, I can't remember her smell anymore, I can only hold onto these locks of fur, And the bittersweet memories, I swore I'd never carry these feelings, Resentment and hate, They destroy a person without warning, But you already did that on that day, Maybe someday I'll be able to let go, Be able to rid myself of these thoughts, But today is not that day, All I have is hope- -of what the future may bring.
