Angel Song
Lay down your pain and insecurities at my feet. Curl up in a ball and reclaim your place; I apologize for apologizing. I suffer in defeat. My life is a playlist shuffle on repeat. I feel your warmth and smell your pain. You're silent in your breathing, heartbeat drowns out the rain. My mind is lost to your open thoughts. I sigh and run my tongue across the roof of my mouth. It feels like a small ribcage. Flies are dancing as my demon sings The Queen she flutters, produces a ring. She then shows me her breasts. I can see the blood coursing through her veins. I pulled off her wings so she too could lay beside me. Her eyes are purple and red; her makeup runs. She tells me a story a sort of vision. The future is make-believe, this life is a subtle prison. She tells me my love is one-sided and fake. Used for shelter, showers, and toilet paper. I release the hold, and her story is well rounded. She left her shoes in a bando, she still sings her silent scream. She grabs my hand, this too feels like a dream. My love is gone, says the Queen. Sold her soul; she smiles and wipes away a tear, then disappears. Alone again with fears ...
