And Once Again
And once again, I could speak of your eyes, Of all those times I told myself lies. But love is no fire that burns unseen, For when I see you, there’s no flame in between. Near you, the world is calm and still, And quiet takes hold, bends to my will. Perhaps you search for gods of old, Greek idols with beauty bold. Yet they know not your taste nor see your grace, Unaware that you even take up space. While you look outward, pretending I'm air, I stay within, lay my soul bare. Here I remain, with truth to impart Saying aloud what lives in my heart.
