An Empath
In the depths of my soul, I am an empath, A vessel for emotions, both light and dark. I feel the world's pain, its joys and sorrows, A constant flow of emotions that never narrows. With open arms, I embrace the hearts, Of those who are broken, torn apart. I hold their pain within my own, And offer solace, so they're not alone. But oh, the weight that I must bear, The heaviness of burdens, the weight of care. Each tear shed by another, I shed as well, Their anguish and despair, my heart can tell. In a sea of emotions, I am immersed, Feeling deeply, as if under a curse. Yet, through the pain, I find solace too, For empathy's gift is a love that's true. I see the beauty in every soul, The strength it takes to make them whole. I understand the battles they fight, And offer compassion, with all my might. But at times, I question my own worth, As the world's pain continues to unearth. Amidst the chaos, can I still find peace? Or will empathy's burden never cease? Yet, in the depths of my being, I find strength, In the power of empathy, I go to great lengths. For though it may be a challenging road, It's in understanding others, that my purpose is bestowed. And it's Seeing the world through compassionate eyes.
