an ember in the breeze
I once heard that love is not based on time spent together. it is not measured by what is given. you can fall more in love with someone you've only known for 2 months than someone you spent 2 years with. this is true, but how do you find that magical connection. that true love again, after giving all you were to someone and they leave. leaving just embers of what was once your heart, only to soft glow as the next breeze passes by. never to grow into the full flame you once had, the flame we call love. my flame is dwindling an ember of its former beauty. it's the worst, when all you want to feel is that same warmth you once had, that safe place, the connection of 2 flames becoming one. but now i stand in front of someone, someone new. whose flame glows in beauty and warmth. while mine is still flickering in and out. I don't know if my flame will ever be as bright or giving as it was with you, and that's the part that kills me the most. my flame may never be as bright as it was back then, im sorry I can't give what I once gave to another. I hope oneday our flames will become one and I can give you the love I once had. until then, be gentle with the ember that flickers. it is only 1 breeze away of going out.
