An actor's wish
Cast no more by stage’s light, A visage wan, a heart contrite. The curtain falls, I echoed and fade, An actor deep, an act betrayed. With dreams once bright, now dimmed to gray. He wanders lost, in haunting disarray, A whispered wish of Hollywood, in night’s embrace. Where Christmas dance, and zombies trance, The lines he spoke, now hollowed sound, In a pit, a mansion lost, now only sorrow found. The audience, seemed to love the bob, Their cheers a dirge, now mournful song. He plays the part of life’s cruel jest, Yet yearns, a passion, eternal rest. In mirrors cracked, reflections lie, A fading star, a silent cry. The world, a stage, or so they say. But he’s off-script, In bitter display. His spirit gripped with every breath, a weight he can no longer bare. He longs for more, but none is given. Only one thing left... Sweet despair. A final bow, a last lament... To slip away, a soul unbent. In dreams of dark, he finds his peace, Where all the pain and sorrow cease. Passed over for another face, one thing left, The actor’s grave. A dance with death. What more is there? He seeks the end, life isn't fair, no more to cast... No more to mend. The curtain falls. An actor's end.
