American Dream(s)
A manufacturing plant resides outside a farm town, goats, chickens, and cows are there quietly roaming around. Underground, in the water bacteria and insecticides stagnate and infect the uterus and stomachs of those about. America the great, its beauty, a slow sting. Our president kisses the needle and slips away. Sells its secrets for golden idols and supremacy. Race wars, politics, and prostitute prosthetics, the bust of a stitch. Police and paramedics are coming with no glitch. We sit like zombies glued to television sets. Feeding our families depression meds, tv dinners, and unprotected sex. Selling our daughters and narcotics to pay rent. A soft grey cloud forms above, car exhaust, pollution, and inner city smog. Corporations and pharmaceutical giants killed the white dove. We can't paint a picture as sad as this, the roads are scattered with bodies, littered with trash and human shit. Bury our dead by the old oak trees, we stand in line to pass the time, center our thoughts and walk the line. Blood spots, said line outlined in chalk. Today is a dream, tomorrow is a thought.
