always and never
if i were asked whether what two words do i hate the most, i won’t hesitate to answer: “always and never.” it’s like talking about the two ends of a pole, but not what’s in between. always good never bad never good always bad there’s just something about the words that leaves me in despond whenever they are spoken; that won’t allow me to think of something else rather than pure expectancy. always never, never always. it’s antinomic. thorough and can’t be manipulated, what’s worse is you’d just be left with utter disappointment once the opposing unexpected outcome occurs. well, maybe except when the word “not” is present before them, which is also daunting for some reason. “that’s not always the case,” but it’s not never the case either— i meant the exact same thing as the first, yet why does it sound utterly different?
