When I close my eyes and leave this world I await the dreams that follow. No dreams of mine are alike. Some are complex, confusing, condemned to the bizarre. Others are straightforward, clear, comprehensible to all degrees. My favorite dreams are the ones I remember vividly. An open battlefield, last words uttered, in his or her arms. Second favorites are the ones that glimpse at other versions of myself: A father, the hero, a killer, the villain, or a different vessel altogether. I wonder if they're aware of me like I am of them. In those moments I feel myself tapping into their consciousness. Last night I dreamt of nothing and awoke craving a connection.
