Alone
Where once was life Is now a hollow core A singular stone, built from strife Placed outside the door Days to years, without a second Although the pleading and many a pout All were scared and never reckoned The heart that beat, without a doubt But why it thought Was I broken, or wrong For the sadness it brought Was just a melancholy song A heart of gold A feeling of cashmere The same question told What brought them to fear A century of agony A feeling of emptiness The spark of harmony Came with its despairing heaviness A corner the same Like every cycle But where once was shame No sign of disgust or vile A light so tender Its shine, made of affection Its eyes belonged to no pretender The warmth that came gave me protection An embrace at last A dam was broken and shattered A waterfall was cast My feeling that I once knew was gathered
