Alone
Maybe I was meant to be a gypsy Never staying long in one place Or perhaps, I was born to be a wolf Alone in my own territory and space I use to be so afraid of that word alone The very word instilled with fear Chilled me to the bone But you taught me many things, but this you taught me well-- That being alone isn't scary when you make within yourself your home Loneliness and alone are very different things For one is an aching, a heart calling out for companionship while the other, peace it brings Once I learned to differentiate I saw my life so much differently That all my life I lived in complete darkness Blinded and unable to see Once my eye sight was restored The world around me was such a sight! That I ran off with 'alone' in solitude to hide And there it offered me great comfort and freedom and peace So much that we became the best of friends With it, I felt at ease With co-dependency behind me in my rear view, fading fast I began to find myself and was freed from the fears of my past
