Alone
"Am I unlucky?" I ponder every night, As I lay awake, feeling devoid of light, The city's asleep, yet I remain awake, Tossing and turning, my heart starts to ache. I think of all the times I've tried, To connect with others, to reach out and thrive, But somehow, someway, it never seems to stick, And I'm left here, alone, with a heavy heart that's sick. Perhaps it's not luck, perhaps it's not fate, Perhaps it's something more, something I create, A mindset, a perspective, a way of being, That keeps me isolated, alone, and unseen. So I'll take a step back, and re-evaluate, My actions, my thoughts, my heart, my weight, And maybe, just maybe, I'll find my way, To a place where love resides, where hearts can sway.
