Almost Was
I prayed for him. Not just once, but every night when the world felt too quiet and my heart felt too loud. I asked for someone who’d understand my silence, who’d stay when everything else didn’t. Then he came— and for a while, everything made sense. He wasn’t perfect, but he felt right. Like coming home to something I never knew I was missing. I saw a future in his eyes, and for a moment, I thought he saw it too. But life— life doesn’t always follow what we hoped for. Sometimes, it breaks things we thought were unbreakable. And love… it fades quietly when no one is looking. He didn’t choose to hurt me. And I didn’t choose to let go. It just happened. Like rain on a sunny day— unplanned, unwanted, but real. He was the one I prayed for. But maybe prayers aren’t promises. Maybe they’re just moments— meant to teach, meant to change us, meant to end. And now, I don’t pray for him to come back— and yet, at the same time, I want him to return. I just pray that wherever he is, he’s okay. And that one day, so will I.
