Alive in the Struggle
Alive in the Struggle by Jack A.S. Dunce How long am I to walk this road? It seems to have no end. I'm not quite sure to where it leads; It's not what I intend. Completely overgrown by grass And made of loose gravel, That crunch beneath each step I make -- A path that few travelled. The blades of grass, they brush and bite The skin on naked shins That sting like tiny paper cuts, Or splinters stuck like pins. The trees that stand along the edge Almost block out the sun, Except a few rays that break through, Though most are mottled ones. The humid air made breathing hard, With every step I strive, A battle fought for every yard; It made me feel alive. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 07/27/2025 *A take on "Not all trails lead somewhere. Some are meant to be walked just to feel alive."
