alcoholic/opiate addict
In shadows deep, where pain resides, Vicodin's grip, for years it hides. A friend’s dark path, I chose to tread, Methadone snorted, my soul misled. A bottle’s comfort, I, too, did seek, In drunken nights, my spirit weak. My kids nearby, in the haze of drink, Lost in the chaos, on the brink. Seven months with a cruel, drunk man, My babies hurt, it wasn’t the plan. But through the darkness, I see the light, A strength within, to reclaim my fight.
