Ajar
Ajar by Jack A.S. Dunce I've held the door ajar for long enough, Still on the fence -- to stay or say goodbye. I never thought the choice would be this tough. My body froze, resisting all my plans, Despite them being played in my mind's eye A million times over in many spans. Was it the biting cold of the doorknob that made my will melt into the bedpan And got my head swinging like a plumb bob? And yet the calm outside latched on my soul Attempting to flush my doubts in a sob -- let out the tears that dug in me a hole. I felt a tear roll down my cheeks like blood; I heard behind me the door's closing thud. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 07/05/2025
