Agony
It lives beneath my trembling skin, A silent scream I hold within. Each breath, a war I fail to win— This is the shape my pain has been. I wear a smile, but it’s a lie, A fragile mask that hides my cry. Inside, I’m breaking, piece by piece, Praying for some small release. My heart remembers every wound, Each promise buried, each love entombed. The echoes haunt me through the night, Where hope once lived, now fear takes flight. They say that time will heal the soul, But mine still bleeds, it won’t be whole. Agony — my constant guest, Who never leaves, who knows me best.
