Afterglow
Afterglow First they called you patient an indoctrination I’m sure Patient in urgent care with back pain too much to bear Then you became patient in room 1114 As you tried every treatment believing they would work But everyday was a slide a little further down the hill You were a pebble tormented by the tides treated with the ignorance of pagans staving off the ides No doctor had the decency to tell you the truth instead- they embarked you on a battle they knew you'd lose Your lost hair, your weight Your meals, your memories Your suffering was as pointless as the circles The doctors spun you in Happy Mother's day Mom. I wish you were still here.
