Addiction
Cigarette burns upon my skin, Numbness wraps the ache within. I drift in haze, too lost to feel, The fire, the pain—none of it real. Instead, I wander through a dream, A fleeting joy, or so it seems. But life, it turns the dream around, And leaves me with a silent wound. Though the numbness dulls the sting, The twinge of loss still softly clings.
