Addicted to Music?
I wear my headphones like a second skin, a shield against the day, The world goes mute when melodies arrive to take the noise away. Each song's a universe I disappear inside completely whole, Where every chord progression speaks the language of my soul. I've memorized the way the bass drops right before the chorus hits, The breath the singer takes at 2:13, the way the guitar sits. My playlists are museums of the moments that I've known, Each track a time machine that takes me somewhere I've outgrown. They say it's just escapism, that I'm hiding from what's real, But they don't understand that music lets me finally feel. In three minutes and forty seconds, I can live a thousand lives, Experience emotions that this mundane world denies. So let me drown in frequencies, let rhythms be my creed, This obsession is the only kind of addiction that I need. While others chase their highs in ways that leave them feeling low, I'm floating on a soundwave only fellow addicts know.
