Aching for your Embrace
The distance stretched, a cruel divide, Between us, mother, you and I. My heart aches now, with guilt inside, For words unsaid, and tears I cry. I should have been there, by your side, To hold your hand, and ease your pain. But miles apart, I couldn't hide, The longing that I felt, in vain. Your voice, a whisper on the breeze, Reminded me of love so true. But time slipped by, with cruel ease, And I, too late, to see you through. I wish I'd known, those days were few, That precious time, a fleeting grace. I'd have embraced you, strong and true, And filled your heart with love's embrace. Now memories haunt, a bittersweet sting, Of laughter shared, and gentle touch. But in my heart, your spirit sings, A love that time can never clutch. Forgive me, mother, for my failing For love unspoken. and the pain. In my heart, your memories prevailing, And I'll cherish you, until we meet again.
