Acceptance
Underneath It seems I cannot accept myself At all There is a wall Of disbelief Of counting myself out Of denying my good qualities In favor of some imagined monster Always less than others Always behind Always last Always foolish Always hurting I cannot even Let myself breath The cage is much too small To live in comfortably What would happen If I could simply accept myself In my own imagination Would I finally feel free To express myself Without fear of reproach? Would I become comfortable In my own skin? Would I dare to begin To believe in myself for once? The same way I believe in other people? The inner judge Holds me captive I need to be set free From the beliefs of my own limitations That only exist in my own mind I need to have courage To face myself fully To see myself as if I were truly loved In order to begin to truly love myself
