A Yesteryear Christmas
In the heart of winter's white, Children's laughter filled the night. Sipping cider, warm and sweet, By the hearth, a cozy seat. Songs of joy in the air did float, From every merry, youthful throat. Snowflakes danced, a silent song, As the night stretched, deep and long. The scent of pine, a fragrant spell, Mixed with piping and fig pudding's smell. A feast for kings, a humble spread, Under the tree of pine, gifts were laid. Bright shiny lights, a tree's delight, Guided Santa's sled in flight. One gift per child, wrapped with care, In brown bag and tinsel, a memory to share.
