a Year Without You
A year has passed, but time doesn’t know what it’s talking about. It says move forward, yet my heart still turns to where you stood, smiling like you always did, kind in a way the world doesn’t make anymore. I still feel you in the quiet moments the ones where I reach for my phone, or think of something you’d laugh at, and remember you’re not here to laugh with me. You were my best friend, my safe place, my favorite face in any room. Handsome, gentle, the kind of person who made life softer just by being in it. I miss you in ways I don’t have words for. I miss who I was when you were still here. I miss the future we didn’t get to keep. But I carry you, in the way I love, in the way I try to be kind, in the way I look at the sky and hope you’re somewhere peaceful, finally resting. I love you still. I always will. And even though you’re gone, you’re still the part of my story I hold the closest.
