A year of quiet feelings
Before Teacher’s Day, while decorating the school, He came up to me and asked, “Have you seen Sir?” I showed him the way, yet my heart had butterflies all over. He thanked me with his soft voice, and I knew, From that little moment, a feeling began to grow. From that day on, I liked him far too much, And after school, I’d always look for him as such. Hoping each time to catch a fleeting glance, Of his handsome face behind those gentle glasses, A moment so small, yet my heart learned to dance Then one evening, I saw him bicycling through my neighbourhood, He noticed me, slowed down, and simply stood. Our eyes met, holding each other for long, quiet seconds, A silent moment where a thousand thoughts beckoned. We didn’t speak, though my heart wished we would, And I still regret not saying something when I could. He was my senior, and I was just a junior, Yet still, I prayed for him with a heart so pure. Hoping he’d pass his finals with colours bright, Wishing him success with all my might. And when the results came, shining as he did; I felt quietly happy for him. It’s been a year now, yet my heart still reaches for him in silence, Liking him just the same… even though he was never mine.
