A Walk with Fire
It seemed like light along the trail, a flame that danced, a glowing tale. With eager steps and eyes alight, I chased the promise of the night. Each stride was bold, yet scorched my feet, the path grew narrow in the heat. The blaze ahead, so warm, so wide— too fierce to touch, too far to hide. The air grew thin, the sparks grew loud, my thoughts got lost beneath the cloud. I reached, but found no steady ground, until cool rain came pouring down. Now when they cheer the fire's gleam, I see the cost behind the dream. The fire, it almost burned me through, but mercy fell, and made me new. ~doxa
