A Thought That Touched My soul
A Thought That Touched My Heart Today A thought today came soft and deep, It stirred my soul, it made me weep. That those I love—my blood, my own— May not return once I am gone. My parents, who would die for me, Whose love is vast as any sea, My siblings too, so close, so near, May fade when I’m no longer here. Like stories shown on TV screens, With actors lost in scripted scenes— Their lines are clear, their roles are set, No true emotion, no regret. They cry and laugh as told to do, But none of it is ever true. Their love's a line, their pain a cue, Yet we believe it all is due. But here we are, in life’s own play, Not knowing what we’re meant to say. With God the writer, wise and high, Who drew our fates across the sky. He gave us roles, each part so fine, Yet we forgot the grand design. We're caught in bonds, in love and strife, In worldly dreams we call our life. We’re actors too, but blind to script, By worldly charms, we’re tightly gripped. We chase the things that fade away, Forgetting why we came to play. -Anushka -
