Everyone cares Not about you, but about themselves, No matter what you think or feel To them, your emotions seem unreal Walking the hallways, concerned about how they look and seem To them, not being unique is like a far-fetched dream Truth is, you are also thinking the exact same thing To it, your confidence is where you try to cling As much as you feel victimized You're also guilty, not just persecuted You want to bask in the spotlight Scoff as you may, you know I am right "Look at me everyone, I'm special!" " Where's my medal?" You may not think or say that outloud, But your actions scream it whenever you're in a crowd Whether it's reading your poems for everyone, Such things impress no one Or finishing a test first, hard questions and all To them, you look like a know-it-all We humans are social creatures, That's why we seek affirmations from others Each and every one of us seeks attention We all have needs, and we hate neglection.
