A STRANGER IN MY ROOM
I used to know the rhythm of our days, The quiet smiles, the gentle, steady gaze. But now the silence rings with something new— A coldness that I never thought was you. You speak, but not to reach me where I ache, Your words are walls I did not mean to break. And she, always standing near, With eyes that judge, and whispers I still hear. I shrink beneath the weight of what I've lost, My heart, once warm, now wrapped in bitter frost. They say I’ve changed—but do they even see The shadows they have carved inside of me? I tried to bloom in soil turned to stone, To laugh while feeling every seed I've sown Turn hollow, as if love has left this place— A house of ghosts, a mirror with no face. If I am different, it is not by choice, It’s drowning slowly while you treated me bad. It's hearing blame in every breath you take, And breaking more with every bond you break. I miss the woman that I used to be, Before I felt so small, so lost, so "me." But maybe in the quiet, I will find A softer truth you left so far behind. And if I fade, please know it isn’t spite— It's trying to survive without a light. A stranger in my home, I stand alone, Still calling love, though love has long since flown. By: ShinyDrops pen
