a stone in my heart
She felt like a massive part, massive but non-existent. I felt like I meant something, more than just a stranger. I’ll never know if she needed me. She’ll never know that I did need her. Liking her was a big part of me. I felt like she took that away With the words that came through that text. She didn’t say no, but she didn’t say yes. With the words that came through that text, I spelt out my emotions — she deleted every letter except the one I kept in my heart. Now I’m a different person, but not in the way I thought I’d be. She was the first girl I ever liked for real. And maybe that’s why it still hurts not because she left, but because I never got to arrive.
