a silent war
I smile to hide the war I fight, A storm that rages every night. They see a man who stands up tall, But never saw me when I fall. My thoughts are loud, they never rest, They pierce like knives inside my chest. I beg for peace, I plead for light, But demons whisper in the night. They say I'm weak, I know I'm not, But every battle leaves a spot. A scar they’ll never understand, A silent war fought hand to hand. Yet in the dark, I find my flame, Refuse to quit, to drown in shame. Though I may bend, I will not break, I’ll rise again for my own sake.
