A Shattered Vision
Walking down a city street in the rain..trench coat on feeling empty I was plain. Suddenly my eyes glazed. Walking with a halo I looked at your shining face. An angel among mere mortals..donned a smile other worldly as if it was a portal. To a realm an eternal joy..one I longed for forever like a kid does for a toy. Mesmerized I wondered..were a prayer answered?Or were you a wish come true? Or perhaps just a repeat of everything that I'd been through. With my curses still upon me...my doubts they only grew. But now I'm glad they did and will do. For in the reflection of your eyes,I saw another. Could've been mine, but you really were his protector. So I guess I'll watch from afar, your presence in his. I want to fall for you. But my heart can't take that risk. IT JUST CAN'T TAKE THAT RISK.
