A Shadow on Your Sun
I fear I'll never be the person you require, For you, for them, I cannot reach the fire. I know you have no need for me to stand so near, You'd grow in life without me, conquering every fear. But I see myself sinking deep into the shade, A future only built on promises that fade. My whole tomorrow rests upon your steady grace, While I sink in the dark and struggle to keep pace. It hurts to know I'm not the thing you long to claim, Yet still, I pray to stay and speak your loving name. I want to watch you rise, and watch us grow as one, Yet fear I cast A Shadow on Your Sun. This doubt consumes my mind, that I'm just in your way, I'm holding you from someone better, day by day. No matter how I strive, no matter all I do, I will not be enough to see this journey through.
