A Secret Dance
The stage is quiet The crowd rustles We find our place, bow our heads, and the lights come to life. The music is delicate and our arms flow like water While the audience watches our bodies tell stories and there are so many to be told. One step there, a turn there. we feel the motions of the emotions as the song becomes more real to us. We all step together the final push, final note final scream of our minds It's quiet. We get in line, and I pass them. One simple touch, and they fall to the floor. The final girl falls and I walk up front. I stand in front of the fallen girls; in front of the audience I have no more secrets to share for I have shared them all through my body I look into the crowd I am the last one standing. It only lasted 3-maybe 4 seconds but it felt like an eternity. I turn around face my actions and drop to my knees. The lights go out and the crowd erupts. They cheer for our bravery and our secrets we kept in the dark for too long.
