a reason to flee
your eyes are distant stars, I reach out, but you fade away, a reflection in the water, ever more vague, and I stay there, drinking the night away. I write you letters without addresses, words that fly away like ashes, you ignore them, you walk elsewhere, and I collect our silences. your laughter is a half-open door, I slip into it like a thief of the moment, but you close it without a glance, and I become a shadow, wandering. love is a garden without a key, you grow indifferent flowers there, me, I water dead roots, and I'm waiting for a season that lies I dance alone under the pale moon, my steps draw your absence, you dance elsewhere, free and light, and I fade into the distance, one day, perhaps, you will look for, this heat that you fled, but I would already be dust, an echo lost in the rain.
