A prologue to my mom
I want to wish my mom a happy father's day. You're the strongest woman I know, you put your feet down and trained your children. You now have a graduate and an undergraduate You definitely outdid yourself, when people ask me how I speak so well, I tell them how my mom made sure we had good command of English, I stuttered as a child, but there's no trace of it now. When people ask how I always know what to say, I tell them how you always know what to say in every situation When people ask how I got into creative writing, I tell them how you encouraged me into reading and it became my hobby. When people ask why I know so many things, I tell them of how my mom loved reading and I gradually enjoyed reading and finding out things You did even what both parents in a home cannot do. I always thought you never liked snacks and drinks, until I saw you eating snack one day, you said "who doesn't love snacks" that was when I realized that you always sacrificed your snacks for us. Growing up and becoming an adult made me realize that you put your life on hold so that we can have the most beautiful life. Shall I compare thee to a summer day? The warmth in the winter, the light at the end of a tunnel
