A precious gift
I asked God for something precious— I asked for her. But what does it matter If I never had her? I cried for her every night, But it changed nothing. In her heart, in her mind, There’s no room for me. She has so much in her life— Why would she choose me? I’m just a coal, Not the gold she deserves. So I burn, slowly, Until I turn to ash. The wind will carry me far, But my love for her will never fade. She’ll forget me, Like I was never there. Because I’m just a coal, not the gold she deserves. So this ash of coal was carried far from her, Lost in nature where it belongs. Yet the ashes remain, Proof of its love for her.
