A prayer from the broken
Forgive Me, Lord Lord, forgive me— I have stumbled as a daughter, For not living upto thy expectations Falling short of dreams my parents held dear, Their hopes now echo in my silence, Lord, forgive me— I have faltered as a friend, Absent when hearts cried out for me, When love needed hands to hold, I gave only shadows and empty space. Lord, forgive me— I have failed miserably as a woman, In the arms of one who loved me true, I let fear speak louder than devotion, And now his memory weeps within me. And Lord… As your child, I have failed You too, Turned away when I should have run into Your grace, Ashamed, unworthy, lost in the dark Where prayers become whispers too heavy to rise. But when the world turns its back, And When love ones abandon me When I am left with no place to call home— Lord… will You still open Your arms? Will You love me, not for who I should be, But for who I am—wounded, weary, and reaching for You? Let Your mercy be the only shelter I need.
