A Passing Day (Canto V)
A Passing Day by Jack A.S. Dunce Canto V: The Rain I stared at the bottom of my dry flask With eyes completely glazed over and blank As though seeing a distant far off place, And not the hollow staring back at me. I felt a faint cold peck upon my arms. Another followed, brushing my flushed cheeks. And then, the slow pitter-patter began, each droplet calling back reality. Despite already standing in the rain, I spread my hands to catch a few droplets To satisfy the need to feel and see Each droplet fall and splatter on my skin. I closed my eyes and tilted up my head, And felt the rain fall and flow on my face. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand And opened them to see the world once more. ©️pgmr 01/17/2025
