A Mother's heart
She lies awake in her bed Thinking of what's next Tossing and turning Praying we are safe Like a wounded animal She crawls to work On her almost useless leg She stands all day with love in her eyes And desire in her heart She takes the abuse And throws the weight down her shoes Her wish is to see us grow Into fine ladies and gentlemens That's a mother's joy To make sure we remember her for all she's worth Not caring what the world thinks she begged for work Caring dreams in her mind That's a mother's heart
